Der Wecker klingelt um 7:00 Uhr und wir sind schnell auf den Beinen, denn heute wollen wir los. Bis wir die Boote allerdings aufgebaut und das erste Mal gepackt haben ist es doch 12 Uhr geworden. Die beiden Mitarbeiter unserer Unterkunft haben uns dabei interessiert zugeguckt. Jetzt packen sie mit an und dann paddeln wir zum ersten Mal im Südpazifik. Schnell tauchen unter uns im türkis-blauen Wasser Korallen auf und es begegnen uns viele Fischer in ihren Einbäumen auf unserem Weg nach Nordwest. Wir freuen uns auf die erste Nacht im Zelt, denn hier ist es wesentlich ruhiger als in der Unterkunft. Allerdings ist die Klimaanlage kaputt und wir ölen im Zelt vor uns hin, um nicht von den Mücken gefressen zu werden.
At 7.00AM the alarm goes off. Not long after we are already are on our feet, ready to get going on our first day on the water. Until we have build up our foldable boats and have stored the belongings for the first time the clock hits noon. While building and packing we have the staff of our accommodation around us looking intrigued. They later lend us a hand and shortly after we are paddling on the South Pacific for the first time. Soon enough corals pop up beneath us and we encounter countless fishers in their dugout canoes on our way to the northwest. We are happy to be camping in our tent again, since it is a lot quieter than the accommodation. Only the air con is broken inside the tent, so we are sweating excessively. Not improving the situation, we are bound to the inside of the tent, if we want to avoid being eaten alive by the mosquitoes.
